Lone Star State Summer Classic
July 3-6, 2014
Dallas, Texas

GCH Coventry Just a Little Crush, a 3-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi bitch, captivated judges to win the Texas Kennel Club Dog Show. Handled by Michael Shepherd, “Etta” was co-bred by Kerry Kirtley with owners Bill Shelton, Steve Leyerly, and Dr. Beckie Williams, who co-own her with Jim & Judy Johnson.

Winning the Trinity Valley Kennel Club Dog Show was GCH Dawin Hearts on Fire, a 3-year-old female Standard Poodle. Bred and owned by Linda Campbell, “Flame,” the No. 3 dog in the country, is handled by Sarah Perchick.

GCH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome won the cluster’s final show, hosted by the Greater Collin Kennel Club. The 4-year-old male Brittany is owned by Carolee Douglas, Jim and Alisa Andras, Amanda Cone and Kathy Hogan, who co-bred “Beckett” with Elud Archuletta. Professional handler Clint Livingston handles the No. 4 dog in the country.

Ann Arbor Kennel Club
July 5-6, 2014
Monroe, Michigan

On the first day of the two-day Ann Arbor Kennel Club Dog Show, GCH Hallmark Jolei Rocker Power, the No. 1 Shih Tzu and No. 3 Toy dog in the country, took Best in Show. Breeders Luke and Diane Ehricht co-own the 2-year-old male with Patricia Hearst Shaw. “Rocket” is handled by Luke.

GCH Stargaze’R ‘N Winfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, an almost-6-year-old male English Setter, completed the sweep by winning Best in Show the second day. Breeder-owner-handled by Eileen Hackett, “Teller” was co-bred by Patricia Skol, Lois Biedron and Kate Hanlon. The No. 3 Sporting dog in the country, who also ranks No. 1 in breed and No. 6 in all-breed competition, is owned by Don and Pat Coller.

Summerfest Cluster
July 4-6, 2014
Ventura, California

Pro Plan-powered dogs took 23 of the top 24 honors at the three-day cluster, which featured shows hosted by the Channel City Kennel Club, Santa Maria Kennel Club and Ventura County Dog Fanciers Association. Sweeping all three Bests in Show was GCH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, a 3-year-old male Old English Sheepdog. “Swagger,” currently the No. 2 dog in the country, is co-owned by breeder-handlers Colton and Heather Johnson with Doug & Michaelanne Johnson and Ron Scott & Debbie Burke.

American Spaniel Club (ASC) Cocker Spaniel National Specialty
July 17-20, 2014
Gray Summit, Missouri

From Best of Breed to Winners Dog and Winners Bitch, Pro Plan-fed Cocker Spaniels swept all major honors at the ASC Cocker Spaniel National Specialty.

Capturing Best of Breed was GCH Mario N Beechwood’s Midnight Express, CGC, a 4 ½-year-old black male, handled by Marlene Ness. “Ace” was bred by Mark and Pam Ragusa, who co-own the No. 2 Cocker Spaniel (Black) in the country with Frank and Cathy Charest.

Megan Pruitt won Best Junior Handler with GCH PBJ’s The Sky Is The Limit, a 2 ½-year-old parti-colored bitch bred and owned by Beate and Jamey Pruitt.
