GCH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, the No. 2 dog in the country, dominated the weekend with three Bests in Show, including shows held by the Simi Valley and Santa Barbara kennel clubs. The 3-year-old male Old English Sheepdog called “Swagger” is breeder-owner-handled by Colton Johnson.
Meanwhile, Purina® Pro Plan®-powered dogs had a clean sweep at the Breeders Showcase, taking all seven Groups. Valerie Atkinson won Best in Show with her German Shorthaired Pointers, CH VJK-MYST Goes Like The Wind and CH VJK-MYST Garbonit’a California Journey.
Richmond Dog Fanciers Dog Shows
Aug. 2-3, 2014
Professional handler Larry Fenner handled two dogs to Bests in Show at the two-day Richmond Dog Fanciers show. They included CH Bon Idee’s London Calling (“London”), a 2-year-old male Bouvier des Flandres owned by breeders Angie Motta and Dayle Sullivan, and GCH Copper Hills No Reservations (“Bourdain”), CGC, a 7-year-old male Australian Shepherd bred by Kathy Hubbard and owned by Sharon Rapadas and Nancy Resetar.
Aug. 8-10, 2014
GCH Claircreek Impression De Matisse, the No. 1 dog in the country, cleaned up all three shows hosted by the Penn Ridge Kennel Club during the Keystone Cluster. Handled by Michael Scott, “Matisse,” a 3-year-old male Portuguese Water Dog, is owned by breeder Donna Gottdenker, Milan Lint and Peggy Helming.
Olympic Kennel Club Dog Shows
Aug. 14-17, 2014
Breeder-owner-handled by Jay Hafford, GCH Taon’s Wallstreet, a 6-year-old male Afghan Hound, captured Best in Show. “Wally” also is owned by co-breeder James Blanchard with Debbie and J.W. Rogers.
After an injury kept GCH Rush Hill’s Drama’Geddon out of the ring for more than a year, “Willis” captured Best in Show at his first show back. The 4 ½-year-old male Golden Retriever is handled by Tonya Struble, who bred and owns him with her husband, Mark. The Strubles also co-own Willis with Cathy Meddaugh.
Cherokee Rose Cluster of Dog Shows
Aug. 21-24, 2014
GCH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh, a 5 ½-year-old female Cardigan Welsh Corgi, captured two Bests in Show under professional handler Lois DeMers at shows held by the Griffin Georgia and Sawnee Mountain kennel clubs. “Coco,” who ranks No. 1 in the breed and No. 4 in the Herding Group, is owned by breeder Deb Shindle, Julie Divens, and Dina Planche.
At the Lawrenceville Kennel Club Dog Show, GCH Legacy Random Titleist, a 3-year-old male English Springer Spaniel, won a rosette under breeder-owner-handler Kellie Fitzgerald. “Griffen” also was co-bred by David Rand and Jason Douglas. He is co-owned by Robert and Sandra Mockoviak.
Finally, a 3 ½-year-old male Pomeranian called “Spanky” stole the show to win the Conyers Kennel Club Dog Show. GCH Starfire's Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy is breeder-owner-handled by Jose Cabrera, who co-owns the dog with Fabian Arienti.
River Valley Cluster
Aug. 21-25, 2014
Breeder-owner David Fitzpatrick handled GCH Pequest General Tso, a 1 ½-year-old male Pekingese, to two wins at the Owensboro River City Kennel Club and Southern Indiana Kennel Club dog shows.
Meanwhile, GCH Stonepillar’s Steel Blu, the No. 1 Bouvier des Flandres in the country, won the other show held by the Southern Indiana Kennel Club. The 5-year-old male named “Blue” was co-bred by Bruce and Diane Hamm with M.J. Sears, and is co-owned by Julianna and Daniel Garrison with Elaine Paquette. He is handled by Kay Peiser.
GCH Starlight’s Made of the Best Stuff on Earth, a 3-year-old male Saluki, captured his first Best in Show at the second Owensboro River City Kennel Club Dog Show. Handled by professional handler Erin Roberts, “Snapple” was bred by Mark Kocab and Tina Turley-Kocab, who co-own him with Sandra Middlebrooks.
To cap off the Purina® Pro Plan®-dog sweep, Matisse, the Portuguese Water Dog, won the Evansville Kennel Club Dog Show.
