Pro Plan® Dogs Succeed in April Clusters and Specialty Shows

April was a busy month for Purina® Pro Plan®-fed dogs as they won various all-breed and specialty shows. Read on for the show results.

Sunflower Cluster
April 1-6, 2015
Wichita, Kansas

A 3-year-old male Pomeranian called “Danny” started off the four-day cluster by winning Best in Show at the Salina Kennel Club Dog Show. Bred by Joan and Ashley Carcasole, GCH HiTimes What The Inferno is owned by Bonnie Bird and Udomisin Littichkun. Danny is handled by Curtiss Smith and fueled by Purina® Pro Plan® FOCUS Small Bites Lamb & Rice Formula.

The next two days of competition were swept by the current No.1 dog in the country, GCH Lockenhaus’ Rumor Has It V Kenlyn. The 3 ½-year-old female German Shepherd Dog, called “Rumor,” won Best in Show at the Wichita and Hutchinson kennel club dog shows. She is handled by breeder Kent Boyles, who co-owns her with Deborah Stern, Pamela Buckles, Patti Dukeman, and breeder Pamela McElheney. “Brazen,” a 3-year-old female Whippet, captured Best in Show at the Wichita Kennel Club Dog Show. Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac Specialty
April 7-10, 2015
Frederick, Maryland

“Trouble,” a 7 ½-year-old male Labrador Retriever, won Best Veteran and the Top Twenty at the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac Specialty Show. Bred by Patty Streufert, GCH Gateway’s Nothin’ But Trouble is owned by Vicky & Michael Creamer, Kristen Creamer-Allison and Krista Beal. Dachshund Club of America (DCA) National Specialty
April 9-11, 2015
Chattanooga, Tennessee

“Sera,” a 5-year-old Dachshund bitch, captured Best of Breed at the DCA National Specialty. Bred and owned by Patricia Romenell and Carlos Pedroso, CH Treis Pinneiroes Buona Sera is handled by professional handler Angela Lloyd and powered by Purina® Pro Plan® SPORT 30/20 Chicken & Rice Formula.

Cherry Blossom Cluster
April 17-20, 2015
Timonium, Maryland

The first Best in Show of the three-day cluster went to a 6-year-old male Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH Trystyn Statesman Cactus Blue (“Maddux”), at the Old Dominion Kennel Club Dog Show. He was co-bred by Charles Brassel, Sandra Holmes and Meghen Riese-Brassel, who co-owns Maddux with Melanie Helms, Phil Gilson and Susan Doss. Currently the No. 1 Welsh Springer Spaniel in the country, Maddux is handled by professional handler Ryan Wolfe and is fed Purina®Pro Plan® FOCUS Sensitive Skin & Stomach Formula.

“Rocket,” a 3-year-old male Shih Tzu, handled by Luke Ehricht who co-bred and owns the dog with his wife, Diane, took home Best in Show from the Baltimore County Kennel Club Dog Show. Co-owned by Patricia Shaw, GCH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power currently is ranked No. 6 in all-breed competition and is the No. 1 Toy dog in the country. Salt Lake City, Utah

GCH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, a male Brittany, won the Intermountain Kennel Club Dog Show. “Beckett,” was bred by Kathy Hogan and Elud Archuleta-Cressler. Co-owned by Carolee Douglas, Jim & Alisa Andras, Amanda Cone, and Jerry & Kathy Hogan, the almost-5-year-old is handled by Clint Livingston. Capturing two Bests in Show from the Intermountain and Utah Valley kennel clubs was “Danny,” the 3-year-old male Pomeranian handled by Curtiss Smith.
