2016-2017 Purina Top Shooting Dog Derby Award
Sibling rivalry was at the center of the yearlong race toward the 2016-2017 Purina Top Shooting Dog Derby Award, but it was a white-and-liver Pointer called “Sadie” who emerged as the winner. Harbor City Sure Shot showed off her stylish pointing ability by earning 835 points, nearly 250 points ahead of her kennelmate Harbor City Papa Spam (“Ben”), from placements in five points-earning shooting dog stakes, including two wins. “Sadie makes the judges and the gallery sit up in their saddles and enjoy her performance,” says pro Matt Basilone of Pittsgrove, New Jersey, who handles the 2-year-old female for breeder-owner Tom Brigman of Rose Hill, North Carolina. “She’s normally laid-back, but when we get to a field trial, Sadie flips the switch and is all business for the hour to hour and a half she’s turned loose.” Sadie is fed Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance 30/20 Formula.
