Top Shooting Dog Amateur Award

“Magnum,” a 6-year-old white-and-orange male Pointer set a record for the most points scored in the Amateur division to win the 2012-2013 Purina Top Shooting Amateur Award. Co-owned by a father and son, Joaquin “Jack” and Brian Sanchez of Greater River Kennels in Central Islip, N.Y., 8XCH/4XRUCH Great River Magnum scored 2,510 points, the highest ever in the Amateur division. Brian Sanchez handled Magnum to win three regional Championships and two Amateur Classics. Bred by Scott Crawford, The Pointer’s sire and dam were both sired by Hall of Fame producer Rock Acre Blackhawk. Magnum’s littermate, 10XCH/ 7XRUPCH Great River Ice, co-owned by Brian and Jack Sanchez and handled by professional handler Mike Tracy of Glenville, Pa., received the 2012-2013 Purina Top Shooting Dog Award.
